Shabbat Desserts

These Shabbat desserts are just what you need week after week! They make Shabbat extra special without a lot of work. We included a variety of desserts here like cookies, cakes, and muffins.

All of these Shabbat desserts are dairy-free so that they can be served after meals that have meat. Instructions on how to store everything are at the end. Enjoy!


Crinkle Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions:

  1. Combine the sugar, cocoa powder, oil, vanilla extract, and eggs in a bowl. Mix well.
  2. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt in a separate bowl.
  3. Add the flour mixture to the cocoa mixture and mix.
  4. Cover the dough and refrigerate for a few hours.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  6. Scoop the dough into 20 balls and roll each one into powdered sugar.
  7. Place on a lined baking sheet and bake for 12 minutes.


Apple crumble

Apple crumble in shabbat desserts



Ingredients:

  • 5 apples, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup almonds
  • 1/2 cup pecans
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup honey

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Place the nuts, oil and honey in a blender and blend until fully combined.
  3. Slice apples and place in a round baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle cinnamon and lemon juice over the apples and mix well with a spoon.
  5. Spread the nut mixture over the apples.
  6. Bake for 35 minutes.


Almond butter truffles

Almond butter truffles in shabbat desserts



Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup almond butter
  • 1/3 cup almond flour
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 ounces chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Add the almond butter, almond flour, maple syrup, vanilla and salt to a bowl. Mix well.
  2. Roll into balls and place on a lined baking sheet.
  3. Freeze for 30 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, add the chocolate chips and olive oil to a bowl and melt using a microwave or double boiler.
  5. Remove the almond balls from the freezer and shape them into truffles.
  6. Using a slotted spoon, dip each truffle into the melted chocolate, and place it back onto the baking sheet.
  7. Once all the truffles are coated in chocolate place them in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  8. Meanwhile, place the rest of the chocolate into a piping bag.
  9. Remove the truffles from the freezer. Drizzle the remainder of the chocolate from the piping bag onto the truffles in a zigzag motion.
  10. Freeze for another 15 minutes.


Banana Cake

Dairy Free Banana Cake



Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons hot water
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 mashed banana
  • 1 1/4 cups flour

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Add the eggs and sugar to a medium-sized bowl and mix using a hand mixer.
  3. Add the olive oil and continue beating until well combined.
  4. Mix the hot water and baking soda in a small bowl or cup and add it to the egg mixture.
  5. Add the mashed banana, water, and vanilla and beat until combined.
  6. Slowly add the flour to the liquid mixture and continue beating until everything is mixed well.
  7. Transfer the batter to an 8X8 baking dish.
  8. Bake for around 40 minutes or until you insert a toothpick and it comes out clean.


brownies

Healthy and delicious brownies



ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup coconut flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips

instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Add oil, applesauce, maple syrup and vanilla to a big bowl and mix well.
  3. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
  4. Pour into a greased 8X8 baking dish and bake for 30 minutes.


Applesauce Muffins

Honey apple muffins for rosh hashanah 2024



Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1 egg

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Combine the flours, cinnamon and baking soda in a bowl and mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the rest of the ingredients and mix using a hand mixer until everything is well combined.
  4. Slowly add the flour mixture to the liquid mixture and beat until mixed well.
  5. Place muffin holders in a muffin tray and add the mixture to each muffin holder.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes.


Notes:

All of these Shabbat desserts can be frozen for around two months.

The almond butter truffles should be stored in the freezer and taken out before serving.

The crinkle cookies, brownies, banana cake, and applesauce muffins can be stored at room temperature for around two days and then frozen.

The apple crumble can be stored in the refrigerator for around four days.
