Easy Spicy Mayo

Great to have on hand:

There are so many meals that a good spicy mayo can be great for. I always thought it was exclusively for sushi but quickly realized it can be added to a lot more than that. I wanted to make a slightly healthier version because the spicy mayo that is available in grocery stores usually has sugar. I also wanted to be able to make a small amount at a time which is only possible when done at home.

dips make everything better!

A nice thing about this dip is it will stay fresh for a while. So if you do want to double the recipe you can. If you think you might want to keep it in the fridge for longer than two weeks, a good tip is to add a little bit of lemon juice as that will help it stay fresh for even longer.

Meal Prep spicy mayo:

When you are making this dip you can divide it into mini containers with lids to have throughout the week. You can add containers to your lunches or dinners as well as place them in a salad container if you want to use this as a dressing.

If you plan to use this as a salad dressing add a little bit of water to the mini containers. It will help turn the dip into a dressing by thinning out the consistency. This dip goes particularly well with any salad that has fish in it like a tuna, salmon, or kani sushi salad.

Choosing a hot sauce:

Choosing a hot sauce will depend on how spicy you like it. There are all kinds of hot sauces ranging from very moderate to crazy spicy. Make sure you choose one that will fit the level of spiciness you want. Once you choose a hot sauce that works for you, you may still need to experiment with it in terms of how much you want in your dip.

If you are not sure about how spicy you want the dip, start by adding a little bit of hot sauce, tasting it, and adding more if you need. Added too much by mistake? You can add more honey to balance out the spice!

Variations and substitues:

Use any sweetener you like. Sugar, brown sugar, and even maple syrup are good options. You can experiment with this dip and try all sorts of things and it will probably still taste good! It’s versatile and easy to work with.
